I am a final year Masters student in the UC Berkeley School of Information with a focus on Data Mining/Analytics, Visualization and its power to support decisions. While at the I-School, I also discovered the exciting intersection of open data and social impact. My passion primarily lies in the extraction and interpretation of data to drive impactful decisions.
I have experience working in the areas of machine learning, visualization, web application development - mostly using Python and Java. I was a former intern in the Product Marketing team at Apple, analyzing customer data. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Database Management, Parallel Programming and Software Engineering.
On an unrelated topic, I have learnt Hindustani Classical Music for 3 years, studied two levels of French and I occasionally update my Wordpress blog. My current hobbies include digital photography (hint: Flickr), playing the Tabla and listening to motivational speakers (and watching cat videos) on Youtube.
