Project History The 19th-Century California Sheet Music Project was funded in 1997-1998 and 19999-2000 by the U. S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. The archive of digitized images is maintained by the Museum informatics Project, University of California, Berkeley. Initially the MARC records and images were available on this site through the search engine Cheshire II of Prof. Ray Larson as well as on the UC Berkeley Library catalogue (Pathfinder), the University of California catalogue (MELVYL), and RLIN, an international bibliographic resource. Currently the project MARC records and images are available on the University of California catalogue (UC Library Search) and WorldCat. To search only the project's records and images is available through the California Digital Library's Calisphere. A summer 1998 grant from HUD's Joint Community Development program, administered through UC Berkeley's Institute of Urban and Regional Development brought the collection of early California music of the Paramount Theatre Music Library (Oakland, Calif.), into the project. A final grant from the California State Library (FY 2000) allowed completion of cataloging of the 2700 items. With 1997-1999 grants 1400 items were cataloged in MARC/SGMLformat. |
