Professional Objective
I am interested in information visualization, interface design, and the intersection of biology and information. I would like to combine my interests in science and information technology in a project-oriented, collaborative environment. Specifically, I would like to gain more experience in user interface design and/or web application engineering.

Staff Research Associate II

Worked with Prof. Maggi Kelly to deliver web-based mapping and GIS products related to various research and outreach projects in the lab.
Projects:
- Vegetation Type Mapping Project: Administered the digitization and georefernecing of a collection of historic vegetation maps, and built a web site and webGIS system to allow users to browse and download the data. See vtm.berkeley.edu
- OakMapper WebGIS: Managed databases and performed web maintenance for the OakMapper WebGIS Project, which provides public access to data concerning the rapidly spreading tree pathogen that causes Sudden Oak Death. See oakmapper.org.
- Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project: Designed and managed a public forum to facilitate interaction between public stakeholders, University of California researchers, and the US Forest Services, as a part of the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project. See snamp.cnr.berkeley.edu.
Wildlife Biologist / IT Specialist

Primarily perform duties of a wildlife biologist, installing and checking traps, visual surveys, identifying and processing reptiles and amphibians (including PIT-tagging), and recording data. I was also responsible for much of the IT management, including administrating two UNIX servers, a MySQL database, the company web site and intranet, and developing new functionality for the company web site.
