A T W O R K . . .
I oversee instructional, research, and administrative
computing services at the UC
Berkeley School
of Information. The I School, as it is often called, is
located in historic South Hall, the oldest building on the Berkeley
campus.
I N R E A L L I F E . . .
I live with my wife, Patty, in East
Richmond Heights, CA, where our lives center around the care
and feeding of three felines from hell.
I have been studying and teaching several Japanese cultural arts for the past 25 years. I am on the board of directors and a founding member of the Sennin Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting traditional Japanese cultural arts.
J U S T F O R F U N . . .
Whenever I'm not allowing myself to be mesmerized by the haunting
glow of an LCD display, I enjoy several outdoor activities, including:
- SCUBA diving in the chilly waters of Monterey and Carmel (and warmer waters whenever possible!)
- Sailing on San Francisco Bay
- Hiking in the hills and mountains surrounding San Francisco Bay
I've put together a small archive of some of my underwater photos for your enjoyment.
