Invitations have just gone out! That's it, now we really have to go through with it! Heh. Just kidding. We are so excited about the wedding - more and more each day. You should probably start booking travel and lodging ASAP. In particular, there are deadlines by which you have to reserve a room in our block at both the La Salle in downtown Bryan and the College Station Hilton in order to get our special rate. The Hilton deadline is Feb. 18th, and the La Salle's deadline is shortly thereafter.

Also, make sure you check out the College Station page to learn all about what there is to do in town.

Travel

If you are traveling to Texas by plane, as many of you will, you have several options. College Station itself does have a small airport which is served by American and Continental, but there are only a few flights in and out of there, and you can expect to spend an additional $100+ per ticket over either Austin or Houston. It’s worth checking, though, because sometimes you can catch a great deal.

The other two options are Austin and Houston. If you're planning on making a longer visit, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio are our recommendations. Southwest, in particular, might be a good bet to get to Austin. If you fly to Houston, make sure you fly into Bush Intercontinental (IAH), not Houston Hobby. Flying in to Hobby will add an additional 1 to 1.5 hours to each leg of your drive because it is on the far South side of Houston. IAH is a hub for Continental, so you can often find very good fares. From there it is about a 1.5 hour drive mostly through Texas backcountry to get to College Station. Driving directions will be provided closer to wedding time.

If you're coming to the wedding, you should plan on renting a car (or arranging to share a car with someone). Public transportation is all but non-existent in most parts of Texas, especially in College Station, and things are so spread out that you really need to have a car to enjoy it all. It's an additional expense, but one well worth it. We'd be happy to help arrange rental car-sharing if you are just going to/from the airport.

Accommodations

We have arranged to reserve a large number of rooms in the La Salle Hotel in downtown Bryan. If you call, make sure you tell them you're in the Johnson/Antin wedding block, and they'll give you a special rate. It is very convenient to both the rehearsal dinner (across the street), and the wedding reception (just down the road). The rooms are very cute and nice and not particularly expensive. If you have some questions regarding this, feel free to contact us (or the Antins or the Johnson), and we can help.

We also have a block of reserved rooms at the College Station Hilton. It's not as cute, but it's more centrally located. There is a similar deadline for booking at the Hilton.

The Ceremony

The ceremony is going to take place in Tamar's parents' backyard. It is, of course, very special for both of us to get married there - outside, surrounded by our friends, and in this place that is so beautiful. We haven't quite worked out the logistics yet, but it's going to be a fantastic and beautiful event. Pray for no rain every chance you get! In case it does rain we're working on a backup plan. Keep your eye out for updates either here or on your invitation.

The Reception

The reception is being held in downtown Bryan, TX at the beautiful and quaint Kyle House. It's a gorgeous place that is just the right size for us and will provide us with fantastic food and a wondeful setting for our celebration. It has the added benefit of being walking distance from the La Salle Hotel.
